Workin' Life
03:11
|
|||
When I clock in at the warehouse,
the sun ain’t come up yet
When the company clock hits closin’ time
The sun’s already set
All day I’m lifting boxes
eight hours every shift
If I break my back and fall down dead
they’ll find someone else to lift
If I can’t make the boss man’s quota
He’s going to dock me half a day
I bet he’ll just replace me
with a robot anyway
This workin’ life is gonna be the death of me
I come home after work and just stare at the wall
‘till I’m bored enough to go to sleep
Then I wake back up too tired to think
for another day of agony
This workin’ life is gonna be the death of me
Well, I’m up about six in the mornin’
I’m out the door by eight
I take two buses and I gotta jog half a mile
Just to make sure I ain’t late
I wash my hair in the breakroom sink
And put on my polo shirt
I’m moan the blues when I tie my shoes
Cuz my feet already hurt
I gotta mop the floor before I open up the door
and let all the people in
I’m stuck behind the counter of this
goddamn store again
This workin’ life is gonna be the death of me
I come home after work and just stare at the wall
‘till I’m bored enough to go to sleep
Then I wake back up too tired to think
for another day of agony
This workin’ life is gonna be the death of me
Now the work I do ain’t what you’d call
a normal nine to five
And I ain’t proud of all the things
I’ve done to stay alive
I dance for tips in torn fishnets
Sometimes I do more
My friends call me a model
My folks call me a whore
They tell me I should call it quits
And get a real career
But they don’t know how hard it is
to make a buck out here
This workin’ life is gonna be the death of me
I come home after work and just stare at the wall
‘till I’m bored enough to go to sleep
Then I wake back up too tired to think
for another day of agony
This workin’ life is gonna be the death of me
This workin’ life is gonna be the death of me

Don’t be friends with a Nazi
It shouldn’t be that hard to do
Take my advice, no matter how nice
In the end, they’ll come for you too
They failed in the past, but it didn’t last
Now they’re back, and the ready for war
We should’ve learned from every book burned
A Nazi has never been friendly before
They may call you friend,
but unless you’re like them
You’ll always be the enemy
So before they can spew
their wicked world view
Take this tip from me
Don’t be friends with a Nazi
It shouldn’t be that hard to do
Take my advice, no matter how nice
In the end, they’ll come for you too
I’ve looked all around and I’ve never found
A Nazi that I would call friend
Behind every smile is a motive so vile
It’ll bring all humanity straight to its end
They think all their hate makes America great
But it’s making it hard to be free
And people who’ve tried to commit genocide
Don’t seem very friendly to me
Don’t be friends with a Nazi
It shouldn’t be that hard to do
Take my advice, no matter how nice
In the end, they’ll come for you too
Don’t be friends with a Nazi
It shouldn’t be that hard to do
Take my advice, no matter how nice
In the end, they’ll come for you too

Don The Con
03:37
|
|||
In a Golf course down in Florida
he's sweatin' and bitin' his nails
Slumped down on the throne,
eyes glued to the phone,
shittin' bricks because he's
worried that he's goin' to jail!
On account of some shady accountin'
And a Stormy love affair
Don The Con is shakin'
like a leaf in the breeze
and he's runnin' out of money
for the dye for his hair
His daddy always told him
someday he’d rule the world!
Make a lotta money, get all the girls
Lie, cheat, and steal,
take whatever you can!
That's all you need to know
to be a businessman!
Now he’s cowerin' behind the curtains
And lookin' for the Feds on his lawn
It's time to reap what he sowed!
It's the end of the road
For that dirty old crook Don The Con!
Way back in the 1980s,
Donny hawked real estate
He made his fortune and fame
By slappin' his name
On a bunch of tacky buildings
in the Empire State
But Donny had a bit of a habit
of ripping of the workers he used
He’d hire a bunch of builders
and Contractors and crews,
and when they’d ask him for the pay
he owed, he always refused!
His daddy always told him
someday he’d rule the world!
Make a lotta money, get all the girls
Lie, cheat, and steal,
take whatever you can!
That's all you need to know
to be a businessman!
Now he’s beggin' for cash for court fees
And his bank account is overdrawn
It's time to reap what he sowed!
It's the end of the road
For that dirty old crook Don The Con!
When Donny started runnin' for office
It sorta seemed like a joke
Who'd vote for a man
with support from the Klan
who brags about his billions
but he's basically broke?
Just like every other thing
he's done in his life,
he cheated his way through the door
Then he spent four years
spreading anger and fear,
and he nearly knocked the nation
into nuclear war!
His daddy always told him
someday he’d rule the world!
Make a lotta money, get all the girls
Lie, cheat, and steal,
take whatever you can!
That's all you need to know
to be a businessman!
But now he's cloggin' up the pipes with papers
As he flushes his dreams down the John
It's time to reap what he sowed!
It's the end of the road
For that dirty ol' crook Don The Con!
It's time to reap what he sowed!
It's the end of the road
For that dirty ol' crook Don The Con!

I Don't Know About You
04:59
|
|||
I don’t know about you, but I ain’t all that happy
with the way we’re treated today
It ain’t hard to see, we ain’t that free
‘cuz if we wanna live, we gotta pay
The people with the power ain’t ever gonna listen
no matter what the people say
I don’t know about you, but I ain’t happy
with the way we’re treated today
I don’t know about you, but I hate the way we hustle
And I hate just to make it to another day
And I miss when the week didn’t make me so weak
while the weekend ends up wasting away
If working for a living means selling your life
You’d think we’d get a little more pay
I don’t know about you, but I hate the way we hustle
just to make it to another day
I don’t know about you,
but I get angry when the folks with all the money
say it’s our fault we’re poor
And I don’t ever wanna see another rich dick on TV
say nobody’s working hard anymore
We’re all working hard as ever and still we’re going broke
buying basic things we used to afford
I don’t know about you,
but I get angry when the folks with all the money
say it’s our fault we’re poor
I don’t know about you, but I ain’t all that happy
with the way we’re treated today
It ain’t hard to see, we ain’t that free
‘cuz if we wanna live, we gotta pay
The people with the power ain’t ever gonna listen
no matter what the people say
I don’t know about you, but I ain’t happy
with the way we’re treated today
(SOLO)
I don’t know about you, but I’m sick to death
of seeing people suffer every day to get by
What the hell’s the point of working eight hours a day
if when it’s over you just go home and cry?
I see people lose their passion spending every waking moment stuck under fluorescent lights
I don’t know about you, but I’m sick to death
of seeing people suffer every day to get by
Well I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be dead
than spend another day under their thumb
I won’t keep working more and more just to keep being poor until my body winds up withered and numb
And if you’re sick of their shit, tell ‘em “up yours, I quit!”
“I may be poor as hell, but I ain’t dumb!
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be dead than spend another day under their thumb
I don’t know about you, but I ain’t all that happy
with the way we’re treated today
It ain’t hard to see, we ain’t that free
‘cuz if we wanna live, we gotta pay
The people with the power ain’t ever gonna listen
no matter what the people say
I don’t know about you, but I ain’t all that happy

Chronic Pain Blues
03:05
|
|||
Well, I’ve woken up nearly every single morning
for the last 10 or 20 years
with back pain so excruciating
that I was driven to tears
And if I’m gonna keep on waking up
with back pain this damn strong
I’m gonna be in the graveyard
before too long
Well I think my back is out of whack
and I don’t know what to do
Gimme a break, oh lord, I can’t take
another day of these chronic pain blues
I got the chronic pain blues
chronic pain blues
and I don’t know what to do
I was born with a genetic mutation
At least that’s what the doctor said
And the pain and the stress
from that ol E.D.S.
Got me feelin’ like I’m better off dead
Every joint in my body from my head
to my toes
Is weaker than a two dollar wine
And then I got that diagnosis of scoliosis in my spine
Well I think my back is out of whack
and I don’t know what to do
Gimme a break, oh lord, I can’t take
another day of these chronic pain blues
I got the chronic pain blues
chronic pain blues
and don’t know what to do
(SOLO)
There ain’t much a doctor’s gonna do for me except for giving me a bottle of pills.
I got hooked when I was young, it wasn’t even fun,
And now they think
I’m only looking
for thrills
With all the bills
ya gotta pay
for a hospital stay,
I ain’t ever gonna be on the mend
I’d rather be in pain than go broke
when my back goes out again.
Well I think my back is out of whack
and I don’t know what to do
Gimme a break, oh lord, I can’t take
another day of these chronic pain blues
I got the chronic pain blues
chronic pain blues
and don’t know what to do
chronic pain blues
chronic pain blues
and don’t know what to do

Money Struggles
03:01
|
|||
I’m staring at the 20 bucks
I got in my bank account
And every time I look again
it’s still the same amount
These money struggles are makin’ me feel
Like I’m buried underground
Cuz I don’t know if I’ll have the dough
when the lanlord comes around
Money struggles
Money struggles
I’m feeling like I’m drowning
and I’m barely blowing bubbles
I’ve reached the point I might as well just give
up and save the trouble
Oh lord I need a break
Cuz I can’t shake these money struggles
My lack of money’s got me
‘tween a rock and a hard wall
And what I get for what I spend
just don’t seem fair at all
They talk about inflation, but I think
that’s just a stall
So we don’t start to notice that their
empire’s bound to fall
Money struggles
Money struggles
I’m feeling like I’m drowning
and I’m barely blowing bubbles
I’ve reached the point I might as well
give up and save the trouble
Oh lord I need a break
Cuz I can’t shake these money struggles
Since I was a little boy
I dreamed about the day
I’d finally turn my passion into
something that would pay
Now lots folks around the world
wanna hear the songs I play
But I’m too damn broke to
pay the price of living anyway
Money struggles
Money struggles
I’m feeling like I’m drowning
and I’m barely blowing bubbles
I’ve reached the point I might as well just give
up and save the trouble
Oh lord I need a break
Cuz I can’t shake these money strugles

Talkin' Tenant Blues
02:48
|
|||
I was livin’ in Memphis in a brick shitbox
With broken front and back door locks
and a ceiling that’s one jump away
from comin’ down
Not to mention the fridge that
leaks yellow slime
and the washer and dryer that bust all the time
And the floor in the living room that ain’t attached to the ground
When the first of the month comes
around the bend
The rental company comes a-beggin’ again
I know I’m gonna be out at least a thou
So I empty my wallet into their hands
But before the go, I got some demands
And though they ain’t gonna like ‘em
They’re gonna hear ‘em anyhow:
If you want my dough,
you can’t have it for free
If you ever wanna get another dime from me
You’re gonna listen up good, cuz I got a few words for you
’With all the money we give you greedy jerks
You should make sure everything
in the house works
And don’t rent a goddamn house if the ceiling fell through!
Well, the man from the company looks at me
And busts a gut laughin’ callously
He won’t even come upstairs
to look at the floor
With a wicked smile cross his greedy face
he says “You want something better?
Better find a new place!
Then he turns around and slams the broken door
If they ain’t gonna fix the damn place,
what’s all the rent for?
Fuck landlords.
Now It’s hotter than hell in my living room
And the fan in the window’s
gonna break down soon
My shirt is soaked from the sweat
dripping down my face
I spent the last hour in agony
On the phone with the utility company
Just trying to keep the power on in the place
When they finally take my line off hold
The lady on the phone is a million years old
And she can’t really understand
what I’m trying to say
I’m finally forced to nearly shout
and she says “listen, mister, no need to be loud, there ain’t really much I can do ‘bout it anyway”
I’m red in the face and losin’ my voice
And I ask “do I have any other choice?
How can I keep the power on in the heat?”
She said “son lemme give you a little advice,
Sooner or later you’ll pay the price!”
So I hung up the phone and I sunk into sweaty defeat.
If I pay the energy bill this month, I won’t eat.
Fuck the power company.

Broke
04:23
|
|||
I used to eat more
These days I’m too poor,
so I’m getting used to the pain
My stomachs in knots
while my mind slowly rots
‘til I feel like I’m goin’ insane
Every dollar I’ve spent
on power and rent
is a dollar that won’t keep me fed
Ain’t it awfully funny
how they count our money
while we count the days til we’re dead?
I may be broke
but I don’t deserve to be broken
Why should we starve while the wealthy
eat more than their share?
They’ll empty our bellies
to keep themselves full
while we bite on the boot straps
they pushed us to pull
Well, I hope they choke
Cuz I’d rather be broke
than be too damn well fed
and wealthy to care
I’ve seen a poor man dig through the trashcan
to try to find food for the day
The clerks at the store
used to toss him some more
but the cops gave them tickets
and chased them away
We don’t get to taste
all the food that they waste
so it goes to the maggots and flies
We might be starving, but at least the larvae
can feast on our flesh as the working class dies
I may be broke
but I don’t deserve to be broken
Why should we starve while the wealthy
eat more than their share?
They’ll empty our bellies
to keep themselves full
while we bite on the boot straps
they pushed us to pull
Well, I hope they choke
Cuz I’d rather be broke
than be too damn well fed
and wealthy to care
Well, I hope they choke
Cuz I’d rather be broke
than be too damn well fed
and wealthy to care

What's It All Worth?
03:32
|
|||
So you wanna be a big shot?
Lemme tell ya how it’s done
You think you’re gonna climb the ladder?
You ain’t foolin’ anyone
You wanna reach the top?
Well you wouldn’t be the first
Before we start, I gotta ask
What’s it all worth?
You’re gonna need a lot of money
If you wanna get a shot
It helps if mom and daddy
Have given you a lot
After all, why work for something?
Just inherit it at birth!
But before you take a single check,
What’s it all worth?
How far are you willing to go?
How low will you sink?
If you sell your soul
Will you still feel whole?
What do you think?
From the top, it looks like heaven
But it’s a long way down to earth
I want you to ask yourself,
What’s it all worth?
If you have a taste for glamour
and your sights set on the stars
Fill the part of you that’s empty
with fancy clothes and speedy cars
Do you think that you'll feel something
When you own everything on Earth?
Will it ever be enough?
What’s it all worth?
The road to fame is paved with failure
And fools who died without a dime
But I know a little secret
to save a little time
Cut out the competition
Break their backs and sell their shirts
You might get a little bloody
What’s it all worth?
How far are you willing to go?
How low will you sink?
If you sell your soul
Will you still feel whole?
What do you think?
From the top, it looks like heaven
But it’s a long way down to earth
I want you to ask yourself,
What’s it all worth?

Mama, do I gotta work today?
I’m only 10 years old, I don’t have bills to pay
I’m too young to worry 'bout workin’
I just wanna run and play
Mama, do I gotta work today?
Teacher taught us all our ABC’s
But I don’t know about economies
Daddy says we need money
And money doesn’t grow on trees
But I want to stay little a little bit longer please
I should still be watching Sesame Street
But I work at McDonald’s grilling meat
I got boo-boos on my fingers
from the burning oil and heat
And blisters on the bottom of my feet
Mama, do I gotta work today?
I’m only 10 years old, I don’t have bills to pay
I’m too young to worry 'bout workin’
I just wanna run and play
Mama, do I gotta work today?
Mama, I’m so tired when work is done
Can I go back to learning 1+1?
I know I’m supposed to pay my way
just like everyone
But when can I go back to having fun?
Mama, do I gotta work today?
I’m only 10 years old, I don’t have bills to pay
I’m too young to worry 'bout workin’
I just wanna run and play
Mama, do I gotta work today?
Mama, do I gotta work today?

The Great Big Blue Sky
05:52
|
|||
The great big blue sky, full of white, fluffy clouds
and a bird or two singing a song
Sends the warm glow of sunshine
all over the hills
as the animals all sing along
It’s peaceful and pleasant
Every prairie dog and pheasant
has a home where they peacefully lie
Under the safety and comfort
of the great big blue sky
Long long ago, nature and creature were one
And there was a home for everything
under the sun
No fences are borders,
just wide open spaces to run
When long long ago, nature and creature
were one
Then, out of the dwelling of darkness
first walked a man
Barely surviving, he hunts and he
eats when he can
Define of nature, his home is
wherever he stands
When out of the dwelling of darkness
first walked a man
And the great big blue sky, full of
white, fluffy clouds
and a bird or two singing a song
Sends the warm glow of sunshine
all over the hills
as the animals all sing along
It’s peaceful and pleasant
Every prairie dog and pheasant
has a home where they peacefully lie
Under the safety and comfort
of the great big blue sky
Man gases in fought as he looks
to the great big blue sky
He thinks “if the Sky can have
power over all, why can’t I?”
He can’t control nature,
but that doesn’t mean he won’t try
To own every little thing
under the great big blue sky
And in Man’s vain attempt
to control everything that he sees
He’s cut down the woods
and replaced them with industries
He poisons the air,
and he dumps toxic waste in the seas
In men’s vain attempt
to control everything that he sees
Now the great big blue sky
is more black than blue
and the birds are two sickly to sing
The animals left don’t know what to do
For man has destroyed everything
What once was a Home for all creature kind
Is now just never filled grave
I hope that the great big blue sky
ain’t too far gone to save
I hope that the great big blue sky
ain’t too far gone to save

I don’t think I like this world
we live in
Everybody’s takin’
nobody’s givin’
We break our backs just to make
Enough to keep livin’
I don’t think I like this world we live in
Well the folks at the top
are gettin’ richer every day
They raise the price of the things that we need
Cuz they know in the end we’re
gonna die or pay
Buyin’ luxury homes and
cars of chrome
While we’re drownin’ in debt
just to keep goin’ on
I don’t think I like this world
we live in
The folks at the top say
“nobody works anymore!”
Why would we wanna work day and night
Just to barely afford to be poor?
You can call me a lazy bum,
but it can’t call that livin’
I don’t think I like this world we live in
I don’t think I like this world we live in
Everybody’s takin’
nobody’s givin’
We break our backs just to make
Enough to keep livin’
I don’t think I like this world we live in
This world of greed and industry will burn
when the smoke-filled sky cries acid rain
and the ocean starts to churn
When man and beast have nearly gone extinct
The last person on earth is gonna
stop and think
“What happened to the world
we used to live in?”
I don’t think I like this world we live in
Everybody’s takin’
nobody’s givin’
We break our backs just to make
Enough to keep livin’
I don’t think I like this world we live in
I don’t think I like this world we live in
